DENTAL TREATS FOR DOGS
Dental Treats – What You Need to Know
At Nourished Pets, we believe dental health should be both natural and enjoyable. That’s why we offer a range of species-appropriate treats that help clean your dog’s teeth while keeping them happily chewing. From lamb ears with hair and rabbit ears to beef trachea, chicken feet, duck necks, and naturally shed antlers, our chews help reduce plaque and tartar through texture and natural abrasion. Many of these treats also support digestion and joint health, making them a smart and satisfying choice for overall wellbeing. Whether your dog prefers something soft like lamb braids or a long-lasting chew like antlers, there’s a dental treat to suit most chewing styles and dietary needs.
However, not all dogs are suited to every type of dental treat. Puppies under 12 weeks, senior dogs with weakened teeth, and those with dental problems (like broken or missing teeth) should avoid harder chews. Dogs with pancreatitis or those on low-fat diets may need to steer clear of fatty treats like trachea and chicken feet. Overweight dogs should have dental chews in moderation, as they still contain calories. And for aggressive chewers, extremely hard items like antlers or hooves could risk tooth fractures — in these cases, opt for gentler alternatives like lamb ears or rabbit skin. As always, supervise your dog during chewing and consult your vet if they have any health concerns or special dietary requirements.
